So I'm trying out Top Ten Tuesday for the first time, hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl as of January 11th, 2018. Wish me luck as I try to narrow down all things bookish to small lists of 10.
Look at me, finally deciding to join the book blogging world and the Top Ten Tuesday craze. I've decided that I can't just have young adult book reviews on my blog. I must have young adult book tags to participate in too! So wa-lah!
1‣ To read 150 books this year.
For the past two years, I thought this would be an easy feat, as I usually read around 20 books in January alone. However, it seems when summer comes around, I start to lose momentum and fail to reach this goal. I've only tried at it for the past two years, 2018 being my third, and the closest I've gotten is 117. I do hope I am able to surpass this goal this year. At the moment I have read 14 books so far.
2‣ Write one book.
I have a ton of inspiration and get truly motivated to write throughout the year, but I've only been able to finish a book once in the past two years, so I really want to follow through on the book idea I've had since the summer of 2017 and actually finish the book out, and maybe even move on to it's following books to continue the series.
3‣ Read more contemporary young adult.
Recently, I have not been able to find many contemporary romances that I even have interest in. I find that really disappointing because YA contemporary used to be the only thing I read, all the time. And now I barely read it at all. I really hope that 2018 will be the year that I find more contemporaries I like and am able to read.
4‣ Be more active on my instagram and twitter.
I do have both instagram and twitter accounts for this blog, but I barely ever use them. I feel like I have much better uses of time, such as working on my actual blog posts. But I'm thinking this year that I can use those platforms more in order to get more traffic to my blog. We will see how this goes.
5‣ Work at Barnes & Noble.
I'd say this is bookish enough. I really want to work at a bookstore by the end of the year. Barnes & Noble is my top choice, but if not, I would definitely settle for another book store or library. I'm starting college soon in a different place and there are so many more bookish job opportunities in the new place, so I'm excited to try out my luck in getting a job in one.
6‣ Grow my blog.
I haven't been the most active blogger in the past two years, but during the first week of 2018, I revamped my entire blog here and started over. I'm starting from scratch, but I'm going to try my hardest to make sure to keep up my blogging throughout the entire year. I'm really excited to see how things turn out.
7‣ Make a dent in my TBR pile.
Dreamers can dream, right?
8‣ Try to read all the books I own.
There are a lot of books that I own and haven't yet read. I really want to read all of them before I have the urge to buy more...
9‣ See all the YA books being turned into movies and tv shows!
Omg I'm so excited for this, but most excited for Jenny Han's To All the Boys I've Loved Before which I absolutely loved and read like 3 times already.
10‣ Start my college education, majoring in English and creative writing.
I'm so stoked to learn more about writing and English, and all things bookish. I'm really hoping I'll learn what it takes to be successful as a writer and/or editor and don't die in college.
HA! #7, my reaction exactly! XD I would also love to go back to college and take more English classes and a creative writing class...this year might not be the year for it, though. And pshhh, I WISH I worked in a bookstore!
